BlackVette 18:18, 10 December 2006 (UTC)The "All Corvette Gathering", "Checkerboard Vette Gathering" (Black & Red Vettes Only), and "Summer's End Vette Gathering" are social, non-political, fun, stress free get togethers for Corvettes. They take place in Reno, Nevada at John Ascuaga's Nugget Hotel/Casino. They originally started in Auburn, Ca, and have also been put on in Primm, Nevada, Laughlin, Nevada and settled in reno, Nevada. The entire event includes a Friday Night "Gathering" at the hotel to bring their charity donations which is "Kid's Kottage" Children Shelter in Reno. It is also a time to have a drink, socialize with other drivers and passengers of other Corvettes, and check-in for the next days activities. On Saturday, there is an early morning Show & Shine Corvette Car Show in which the Drivers and Passengers and hotel patrons cast ballots on their favorites in all 6 classes of Corvettes attending the event. 2 people from the hotel management staff picks their favorites for "Best Paint", "Best Engine", and "Best Of Show & Shine". After the Show & Shine, there is a poker run for 2-3 hours and Saturday evening we "Gather" again in our banquet room to donate raffle tickets and we have a private dinner. Afterwords, the awards are handed out for the poker run winning hands, a gift raffle, Show & Shine awards, "Club Participation Award", "Long Distance Award" and "Hard Luck Award" if necessary. There have been Corvettes that have traveled from New York, Texas, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California.
