Corriverton

Corriverton is the most easterly town in Guyana. Located at the wide mouth of the Corentyne River opposite Nieuw Nickerie in Suriname, it consists of two older towns, Springlands and Skeldon, and several villages (e.g. '78') which were named or rather numbered after their sugar plantations, owned by Bookers.
Its population is 11,574 (2002 Census). A ferry links Corriverton with Nieuw Nickerie in Suriname.
Corriverton has a mixture of Hindus, Christians and Muslims living together in perfect harmony, a model for the fanatics around the world. It boasts many mosques, temples and Churches and an excellent educational system.
Hotels in the town include the Bar Barck Hotel, Mahogany Hotel and the Swiss Guest House and many others. Corriverton is a very economical and delightful town for tourists. The people of Corriverton always welcome foreign visitors and treat them with exceptional hospitality.
