Corresponding angles

The transversal t crosses a and b which are parallel lines.  The angles of the same character on the same side are corresponding to each other.

Corresponding angles are formed when a given transversal line crosses two parallel lines. The corresponding angles are congruent and these congruent angles can be used to determine the degrees of the other angles of the parallel lines. Corresponding angles are only applicable to any two sets of lines, regrardless of the amount of parallel lines shown.
