Corinne Drewery

Corinne Drewery (born 21 September 1959, in Nottingham) is the lead singer of the pop music band, Swing Out Sister. She grew up on the classic pop standards, since her father played in a band which was regular support to big stars like Tom Jones, Sandie Shaw etc.
Drewery moved to London to study fashion and eventually became a fashion designer. But she also sang for short periods with bands like Working Week.
In 1984 she first met with Andy Connell and Martin Jackson and together they formed Swing Out Sister. Apart from singing the lead vocals in the band, she also writes all the lyrics and participates in the composing of the songs together with her partner Connell.
Drewery is famous for her beautiful voice, an "optimistic alto flute". Early criticism that the "fashion designer" could not sing, has long since been refuted. [citation needed]
