Corflu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Corflu is a science fiction fanzine convention held each spring in North America (and once in Britain). It is named after a slang term for the "correction fluid" used in mimeograph printing, a common way to produce fanzines before the arrival of low-cost photocopying.
The first Corflu was held in 1984 in Berkeley, California. Each Corflu is organized by a different regional group, selected at the previous year's gathering. Recent Corflus have taken place in Las Vegas (2004), San Francisco (2005) and Toronto (2006). In 1998, the first non-North-American Corflu was held in Leeds in the United Kingdom.
Corflu is a small and informal convention. There is a single track of programming. Corflu's traditions include choosing the Guest of Honor randomly from the attendees, and electing Past Presidents of the Fan Writers of America (which never has a current president).
