[edit] Masks

Corey Taylor's mask, which was originally made from a crash test dummy-style halloween mask, is equipped with brown and blonde dreadlocks made from his real hair. It is said that his new mask is now inspired by Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface.

[edit] Stone Sour

With Stone Sour, Corey teamed up with another Slipknot member, James Root, and created the mainstream rock phenomenon that made its way up the charts. On their first self-titled album, Corey Taylor performed 'Bother' which also featured on the film Spider-man. This song is considered to be quite different in style to his bands' usual music. The rhythm is distinctly slower and more tuneful, without the 'shouting' and 'growling' that is synonymous with Slipknot's music.

Their second album, titled "Come What(ever) May", featured the instant hit "Through Glass." Like "Bother," this had a softer sound, and became one of the top 100 songs on the musical charts.

Stone Sour formed in 1992, and dissolved in 1997 after Stone Sour came second to Slipknot in a 'Battle of the Bands' contest at Safari's in Des Moines, Iowa; it was felt that Anders Colsefini (former Slipknot vocalist) did not have a 'radio friendly' voice and that this was holding them back from gaining a major record deal. Mick, Paul and Shawn persuaded Corey to join Slipknot as their new vocalist.

After songwriting and touring for over three years, Slipknot nearly split, going on a break for over a year. In this time, Stone Sour went back in the recording studio and produced their self titled album - their first with a major label (Roadrunner Records).
