Coregonus albula

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The vendace (Coregonus albula) is a whitefish found in lakes in northern Europe, especially Finland and Estonia, and in some lakes in Scotland (Lochmaben, near Dumfries) and England. It can also be found in Northern-European part of Russia. The name is probably cognate with Gwyniad.

The Tench class submarine USS Vendace (SS-430) of the American navy is named after it.
