Core Graphics is a technology in Mac OS X that is responsible for various GUI effects, similar to Core Image.

Core Graphics, introduced in OS X Tiger, is used extensively in the Mac Operating System for GUI enhancements, such as Exposé, the minimizing effects, Dashboard and more. Most of the impressive transition, animation and workspace effects are private and unreleased; however, Core Graphics does have functions that are documented. The framework is able to use the Quartz drawing API, and OpenGL for a variety of graphics and image related effects.
