Corbin City is a city in Atlantic County, New Jersey, USA. As of the United States 2000 Census, the city population was 468.

Corbin City is located at 39°18′6″N, 74°45′14″W (39.301631, -74.753957)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 23.3 km² (9.0 mi²). 20.4 km² (7.9 mi²) of it is land and 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it (12.24%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 468 people, 172 households, and 120 families residing in the city. The population density was 22.9/km² (59.3/mi²). There were 204 housing units at an average density of 10.0/km² (25.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.02% White, 2.78% African American, 0.85% Native American, 1.28% Asian, 0.64% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.99% of the population.

There were 172 households out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.4% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.21.

In the city the population was spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $47,083, and the median income for a family was $56,000. Males had a median income of $35,938 versus $27,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,321. None of the families and 4.9% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 17.0% of those over 64.

[edit] Federal, state and county representation

Corbin City is in the Second Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 2nd Legislative District.[1]

New Jersey's Second Congressional District, covering all of Atlantic County, Cape May County, Cumberland County and Salem County and portions of Burlington County, Camden County and Gloucester County, is represented by Frank LoBiondo (R, Vineland). New Jersey is represented in the Senate by Frank Lautenberg (D, Cliffside Park) and Robert Menendez (D, Hoboken).

The 2nd legislative district of the New Jersey Legislature is represented in the State Senate by William Gormley (R) and in the Assembly by Francis J. Blee (R, Absecon) and Jim Whelan (D, Atlantic City). The Governor of New Jersey is Jon Corzine (D, Hoboken).

Atlantic County's County Executive is Dennis Levinson. The executive, along with the Board of Chosen Freeholders, administers all county business. Atlantic County's Freeholders are Francis Sutton, James Curcio, Frank Finnerty (Freeholder Vice Chairman), Alisa Cooper, Joe Kelly, Rev. Lawton Nelson, Thomas Russo, Sue Schilling and Joseph F. Silipena (Freeholder Chairman).

Students from Corbin City, a non-operating school district, attend school in Ocean City as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Ocean City School District.
