Coralroot orchids are those members of the orchidaceae that belong to the genus Corallorrhiza (sometimes misspelt Corallorhiza).
They are notable for their coral-shaped roots, and for relying entirely upon symbiotic fungi within their roots (mycorrhizae) for their sustainence as they do not produce chlorophyll. Several species are found in the pacific northwest, including corallorhiza striata and C. maculata. cultivation by seed around Abies species, they will grow if you are VERY lucky.
