[edit] Poster claims to be the author or to have permission

This section is specifically intended for pages which contain apparently non-GFDL copyright material for which a User has claimed copyright or permission(s). Initial listings of pages with suspected copyright problems should not be listed in this section. When placing items here, please post under the relevant month (eg. if the copyvio listing was first made in October 2005, please post it there). If you are a Wikipedia editor or administrator following up on a copyright problem, please place a note under the relevant listing, stating what you have done or plan to do; this will help prevent duplicated efforts at resolving the problem. Once the uploader has been notified of how to prove ownership or permission, pages should be deleted after 2-3 weeks if no proof has been forthcoming. Note: The OTRS queue is backlogged (turnaround times in the months) at the moment, so nothing from this queue should be deleted until further notice.

If there is a claim, follow up by placing the Maintenance text found at the bottom of the tagged article on the article talk page and/or the user's talk page.

  • Molly Louise Shepard (history · last edit) From [1] - author has given permission, but hasn't specified the GFDL. Someone should probably try to contact Molly Louise Shepard to ask if she releases the text under the GFDL. – Quadell (talk) (random) 00:10, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Legg Mason (history · last edit) from [2] and [3], among others. A little of words taken from PR works from the company. Appears that the base of the article may have been taken without proper permission from the PR department of the company. I'm not so sure the PR departments always realise that putting text on wikipedia is automatically licensed under the GFDL. Since I can't be sure about GFDL, its a copyright violation. There is no version to recover to, since its always been using PR text. Kevin_b_er 20:28, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Looks like someone from the company is commenting at Talk:Legg Mason. The contributing IP, 216.251.209.109 (t·c), belongs to a Legg Mason netblock. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 17:38, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
      • I don't believe anyone has attempted to contact the copyright-holder yet. – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:50, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Natalie choquette (history · last edit) from [7]. This is really recent but the copyright tag has the same author as the person on the talk page (I don't feel that this should be speedied), so I told him how to release information under the GFDL on the talk page. • Image:DiegoSanchez-7894182.jpg (history · last edit) from subject's Myspace page. Uploader claims he is the author but lists subject's myspace page as the source. Unable to view subject's picture gallery on myspace as I don't have an account, but there is no evidence that he has released copyright on this work. Additionally, this was uploaded during a stream of vandalism to Diego Sánchez in multiple attempts to proclaim he is gay, which tells me this is likely trolling. VegaDark 22:30, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  • San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (history · last edit) - From [10]. Vague permission claim on the talk page; it should be verfied that the organization permits the article to be used on Wikipedia under the terms of GFDL license. - Mike Rosoft 15:37, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Image:Travisrush wiki.jpg - Contradictory copyright information on image description page, the author ([11]) should be contacted to clarify it. - Mike Rosoft 15:49, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Deleted as an indentical file with Image:Travisrush wiki2.jpg, but I believe that the author should still be contacted in order to know just about under what conditions he wants the file to be submitten on Wikipedia. - Mike Rosoft 20:38, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Image:St etheldredas christ stained glass.jpg (history · last edit) from [12]. — Indon (reply) — 11:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • The uploader has asked the copyright holder to amend the license at the source, but it takes times. So I removed this request first for the moment, while still watching the image. — Indon (reply) — 10:35, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

"Hello -- I was given the okay to post that history by LaToya Davidson, the Assistant Director of the Twin Lakes Library System. I can make some sort of comment on the article to say that (as I did on the image that was used, that permission was given by the artist)." Khatru2 21:53, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
