Copa América 1979

The 1979 Copa América soccer tournament was played between July 10 and December 12. This time, the continental champion would not go to the Soccer World Cup. It was not held in a particular country, all matches were played in both teams' fields.

The final positions were as follows:

1st place: Paraguay
2nd place: Chile
3rd place: shared by Peru and Brazil
