[edit] Nomination for adminship

I strongly advise you not to accept the nomination. With just 22 edits to your credit, it is a pointless gesture. Within a few hours, there will be a large number of oppose votes, and within a day a bureaucrat will remove it from the nominations being considered at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. The majority of admin nominations for editors with less than 2,000 edits fail (52%). It's not until you pass 2,000 edits that the chance of a nomination succeeding dramatically increases (to 83%). Furthermore, you've only been here a day. To be nominated for adminship at this juncture is a pointless move. All the best, --Durin 04:19, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

I hereby reject my nomination. Cool3 23:01, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

You may need to confirm that on your main nomination page. Click Here - Bwfc 23:35, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi, you added neutrality tag to the above. It is pointless unless you add the reasons as to why you think it is not neutral on the talkpage of that article, so please do so or remove the tag. --Gurubrahma 11:22, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Hi. You see why I nominated Yarzar Cola! Have fun! Death2 01:05, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Again me, sorry but I wanted to ask you do you put {{delete}} on the talk page or on the article page? And do I need to list it on pages for deletion? Thanks! Death2 01:14, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I know. I entered delete on the talk page, and then you put it on the article page. Here is another one M.S.Yar Zar. See ya! Death2 01:21, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Egyptian land reform

Hi there! I ws just looking over this article, and thought there might be some neutrality problems over the language used in the Problems prior to 1952 paragraph. You've used words such as "excessively high rents" and "unfair lending practices", which imply a value judgement by Wikipedia. I have no knowledge for the subject of this article, so I can't comment on what the practices were, but you might want to take a small look at this particular paragraph. These were the only POV issues I could see with the article. Best regards, --BillC 12:46, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

No problem, thanks for taking it in good grace. Cheers, --BillC 19:16, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Good question. It depends what they're saying, of course. Usually the best way is to provide some direct facts that are in themselves verifiable, such as simply describing what the rent practices were. If this is not possible, you can write something like "according to xxxx of the Cairo Museum..., rents were responsible for y % farmers becoming encumbered by debt within z years". However, often this is not possible either. If you've got quotes you want to attribute in the form of footnotes, there is a mechanism for this but it's a little difficult to explain. You could just type them into the article now, and I'll format them for you if you like. --BillC 19:38, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
I just saw what you wrote. Perfect :) --BillC 19:46, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
How's that? If you want to enter more for the text that now appears in the Notes section, just type it in between the <ref> and </ref> brackets that are inbedded in the text. The Notes section is automatically generated and does not need to edited, unless you want to change its title. --BillC 19:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright

Thanks for your question about image copyrights. I think it's necessary for the copyright holder to release it under a GFDL (or compatible) license. From the note on the image talk page, I'm not sure they have quite done that. What GFDL (or compatible) means is that "their picture (or text) can be used freely by Wikipedia AND its downstream users, and that such use might include commercial use". (See Wikipedia:Boilerplate_request_for_permission for more info) In the case of images, Creative Commons Licenses (e.g. {{cc-by-sa-2.5}}) are GFDL-compatible and may be suitable here, as several of them explicitly require attribution to the original source. Once you do have permission for using the image under one of these licenses, then you should also forward the e-mail confirmation of permission to Wikimedia. (see Wikipedia:Confirmation_of_permission). I hope this clarifies things for you. If you need further assistance, please ask me or you may want to ask on the Wikipedia:Help desk. -Kmf164 (talk | contribs) 23:00, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I have deleted the image, per your request. Once you have the permission, per Wikipedia:Confirmation_of_permission and Wikipedia:Boilerplate_request_for_permission, then go ahead and re-upload the image. [edit] Cite.php

Hi. The full instructions are at Wikipedia:Footnotes, but basically for the first instance of a citation you put:
<ref name="citationName">Your citation</ref>
and for subsequent uses put just:
<ref name="citationName"/>
These will be replaced by the footnote numbers. Then in the References section put:
<references/>
and that will bring in all the citations. —Whouk (talk) 19:18, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bias???

How do you distinguish between bias and unbias.??? if what i wrote was bias then the first part of the statement was bias asell. first part(i.e what jews think) that only shows one part of the arguement therefore i placed what muslims think of jews (other side of the arguement). and the views of christians was without any refrence or footnote, thats why i deleted it.???84.64.39.220 01:53, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Proletarian Union" Committee of the Portuguese Marxist-Leninist Communist Organization (in reorganization) AfD

After reading your deleting statement in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/"Proletarian Union" Committee of the Portuguese Marxist-Leninist Communist Organization (in reorganization), I must tell you that you are misinformed about the verifiability policies. Please consider changing your statement, it would be great, as the article is verifiable. Thanks! Afonso Silva 17:30, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your explanation in the AfD discussion. Sorry if you thought I was criticizing you. I was just concerned about the article's future. I couldn't answer to you in time, because my present internet access limitations. I know that google is a primary source for checking verifiability, however, some topics have little presence on the internet, especially, if you demand a translation. It has some verifiability in Portuguese, and according to the policies, that's enough. The article's subject is a very minor political party that existed 30 years ago, so, it is difficult to find information about it in the internet, even in Portuguese. That's the main reason. Anyway, thanks for your concern! Afonso Silva 22:22, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Creigh Deeds

Now can you make Creigh Deeds pretty?

[edit] From Clarkgf

Cool3,

Thanks for getting in contact with me(Clarkgf 22:03, 2 October 2006 (UTC)). I have a model for AIDS pathogenesis that is unconventional but highly logical that is known by the acronym eu-FEDS. Many people are asking for a short definition of this model now especially clinicians.

I decided to enter a page on Wikipedia because I think it is the most democratic source, and many of the entries I have read are outstanding (far better than Encarta). However, I am having problems because it says that this article is an orphan. It is not clear how to remove this status. I tried to introduce external links I cannot get them to come up. Can you help me?

clarkgf

Thanks

Thanks for your response to me about the article. I did not think about links to other articles in the way your describe.

You say you have little medical knowledge. It is true I have a lot of that, but my central goal here is to explain the eu-FEDS concept in terms that everyone can understand.

I just read the Wiki article on AIDS and though fairly good, the part about pathogenesis left out some inconvenient truths. The global observations about human and simian retroviruses do not fit the model for AIDS pathogenesis presented in that article.

Let me explain one of these deficiencies. Most people may have heard that there is a form of HIV-1 that is found naturally in African green monkeys (AGMs) and sooty mangabees (SMs) known as simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV-1). However, a key observation is that infection of these monkeys with SIV-1 results in a lifelong viremia without them ever developing AIDS. The level of SIV-1 particles in the circulation of these infected monkeys is always the same or higher than humans with full blown AIDS. SIV-1 also causes massive destruction of CD4+ T cells in AGMs and SMs, at the same or higher levels as end stage AIDS patients. These observations clearly contradict the reasons for pathogenesis found in that article on AIDS.

Now how can this be? The reason why the AGMs and SMs never get sick is because their immune system never responds to SIV-1. Basically, AGMs and SMs are doing what immunologists refer to as "accommodation". They are allowing SIV-1 to live inside their bodies without ever mounting an immune response.

Now when do humans and other eutherians show this form of immune accommodation under natural circumstances? The answer is only during pregnancy.

However, if rhesus monkeys or cynomolgus macaques (i.e. the nonnatural hosts of SIV-1) are infected with SIV-1, they also develop viremia, but in this case their immune system responds to this retrovirus. Then the SIV-1 continually shifts its forms, and they eventually die of simian AIDS because the virus globally suppresses their immune system to survive. The only model for AIDS pathogenesis that can explain this amazing dichotomy of immune tolerance in AGMs and SMs yet immune destruction in rhesus and cynmologus monkeys is eu-FEDS.

What better way for anything foreign to exist within our bodies than to couple its survival to the our need to reproduce, one of the essential imperatives for our continued existence as a species? That is why Wiki needs an article for eu-FEDS, because in the end, it will be the final model for AIDS pathogenesis (hope I can express an opinion here!). And it applies not only to AIDS, but also aggressive tumor cells and other persistent pathogens. For example, we have more recently found a direct linkage between ovarian cancer and AIDS.

Thus the eu-FEDS model impacts every single person on this planet. That is why I believe that this eu-FEDS page belongs in Wikipedia, because Wikipedia is the only global database that is available to anyone anywhere all the time for free. And I think that any reasonably intelligent person regardless of their background can grasp the core principle of the eu-FEDS hypothesis, not just biomedical nerds like me.

Thank you again for your help and consideration in this matter.

clarkgf

BTW, I read that your comments that you thought this page involves involves original research. I can certainly understand your concerns. It is not original research by the Wiki definition, because all of the findings are published in reputable journals. I have also balanced the article with competing theories now (though I do not worry about them).

It is possible that the Wiki editors will delete this page. Even so, I have every confidence that in the near future it will be reinstated. More dramatic evidence showing that the eu-FEDS hypothesis is correct is coming very soon. That is why I took the time to write about it, and not for the sake of either vanity or original research. So I am keeping my copy of this page for future reference.
