Problem

There's nonsense in an article, or an article is blank.

Nonsense (or "vandalism") can include:

  • Fabricated information
  • Profanity (where it's not relevant)
  • Inappropriate pictures
  • Random junk text
  • Explicit information on an individual

Solution

Wikipedia is a wiki, so you can fix the article yourself.

  • You may want to hold on and check back in a few minutes to see if the article has been fixed.
Most vandalism is reversed within minutes.
  • If the offending content does not appear when you try edit, it has already been fixed. Do not email us in such cases; force your Web browser to reload the page with Ctrl-F5.
  • Go to the article and click edit this page near the top.
Never edited before? Read the Introduction to Wikipedia.

Other editors may have fixed it by the time you read this.

Want help with fixing it?

  • In high-traffic articles, such as those on celebrities, most vandalism is reversed within minutes, if not seconds.
  • Please wait a few minutes, and try reloading the article, before writing to us.

Almost all the "vandalism" complaints that we receive regard vandalism that was removed before we receive the email.
  • Please force-reload (Ctrl-F5) the page and check that the vandalism is still there by the time you finish writing your email!
  • If you tried editing but vandalized text was "invisible" or did not show up in the edit window, this means it was fixed before you tried fixing it. Please do not email us.
  • Send your concerns to info-en-v@wikimedia.org with the details of the problem. Please tell us the exact URL of the article that you're discussing; this is shown by your web browser as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... Please also quote us what you think is wrong; please copy and paste and please do not use expletives such as "the f word" or similar.
