[edit] Merge

I suggest that Simultaneous contrast and Contrast (formula) should be merged into this page (Contrast (vision)).

  • Contrast (formula) is mentioned in this article, and appears to be about the same thing, and could easily be put into a section here.
  • Simultaneous contrast is about a slightly different thing, but is probably close enough to fit in here.

Please feel free to comment on these suggestions! --H2g2bob 15:40, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Simultaneous contrast should remain a separate article that hopefully will be expanded in the future. In vision science, simultaneous contrast is considered a rather important and complex issue. While somewhat related to the normal contrast, is seems to specific to be included into that article, though one might want to mention that perceived contrast might differ from physical contrast due to context effects.193.196.193.21 16:25, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Contrast (formula) takes luminance contrast as an example, but clearly states that the formulas are applicable to other fields as well. Therefore, it seems not quite adequate to merge it into Contrast (vision). 193.196.193.21 16:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] x:1

What do those contrast values such as 500:1 mean monitor manufacturers use in their specifications for monitors? --Abdull 17:27, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Found: Contrast ratio. --Abdull 17:40, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
