Conway sequence

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Conway sequence is a sequence of numbers that originates using the Look and say sequence generator.

The Conway sequence starts with '3', described as 'one three', and written as '13'. This number can in turn be described as 'one one, one three', or '1113'. The following Look and say sequence originates[1]:

3, 13, 1113, 3113, 132113, 1113122113, 311311222113, ...

John Conway has shown that the asymptotic rate of growth of the number of digits of subsequent terms of virtually all Look and say sequences is a constant (Conway's constant) which is about 1.303577269.
