From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1885, Ito Hirobumi of Japan negotiated the Convention of Tientsin with Li Hung-chang of China. The points agreed by the two sides were that they would:

  1. pull their expeditionary forces out of Korea simultaneously;
  2. not send military instructors for the training of the Korean army; and
  3. notify the other side beforehand should one decide to send troops to Korea.
