Convention Center (VTA)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Convention Center is a light rail station operated by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. The station is located located in San Jose, California in the median of West San Carlos Street between Market St and Almaden Blvd. It is directly in front of the San Jose Convention Center and the Civic Auditorium.. Convention Center is served by both the Alum Rock-Santa Teresa and Mountain View-Winchester light rail lines.
Convention Center is one of the few remaining stations in the system that is not fully wheelchair accessible. The level of the platform is approximately eight inches lower than the floor of the light rail vehicle. A temporary wooden ramp has been erected to allow wheelchair users to board and deboard via the forward-most door of the forward-most car of the light rail train.[1]
VTA plans to close the Convention Center station temporarily for refurbishment beginning sometime in Fall 2006 so that the station platform can be made fully wheelchair accessible.[2]
