Continental 1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Continental 1 is a proposed trade and travel corridor, stretching from Miami, Florida in the United States to Toronto, Ontario in Canada.

Part of it will be new, other parts an upgrade of existing routes. A new highway will be built from Toronto to Buffalo, New York. This route, referred to as the Mid-Peninsula Highway, is still in the planning stage. A proposed twin of the Peace Bridge across the Niagara River is also in the plans.

From the Peace Bridge, the route follows Interstates 190 and 90 to U.S. Highway 219. It continues through Pennsylvania, some parts being an expressway, but much only two lanes of winding road through the mountains. It meets Interstate 68 in West Virginia near the northern state border. From this point south there is considerable controversy over the route it will follow.
