Constance of Penafiel or Constance Manuel of Castile (c 1323-November 13, 1345) was the daughter of Juan Manuel, Duke of Penafiel (1282-1348), called "el escritor" (the writer), Duke of Penafiel, and his second wife Constance of Aragon. She was Queen consort of Portugal.
She possibly was born already before 1323, however certainly after the year 1315.
She was the first wife (as child) of another child, the future King Alfonso XI of Castile (1311-50) (March 28 in Valladolid), which was annulled in 1327, when she was about 4 years old.
She was the second wife of King Pedro I of Portugal (1320-67), marrying on August 24, 1339 in Lisbon. They had three children:
- Louis (February 27, 1340 - March 6 1340).
- Mary (April 6, 1343 - app. 1367), Married to Ferdinand, Prince of Aragon.
- Ferdinand I of Portugal (October 31, 1345 - October 29, 1383), 9th King of Portugal.
She died in Santarém, Portugal 1345 and is buried there.
