The Conservative People's Party (Danish: Det Konservative Folkeparti) is a Danish political party. Until 1915 it was known as Højre (Right).
The party has participated in several coalition governments, but only one Prime Minister (statsminister in Danish), Poul Schlüter, has come from this party. He served from 1982 to 1993. The youth branch of the Conservative People's Party, albeit an independent organisation, is Conservative Youth, the oldest youth organisation in Denmark, founded in december 1904, and believed to be one of the oldest in the world, preceding the Conservative People's Party with 10 years. The student branch is Conservative Students, likewise an independent organisation, and has branches on all Danish Universities.
Since 2001, the Conservative People's Party has been the junior partner in a coalition government lead by Venstre. The Conservative People's Party is currently led by Bendt Bendtsen, who serves as minister of Trade and Industry along as Deputy Prime Minister.
In the 2004 election for the European Parliament, Gitte Seeberg won a seat for the party, where she is a member of the EPP-ED group.
In the 2005 elections to the Folketing (Danish national parliament), the Conservative People's Party returned 18 members, a gain of two, winning 10.3% of the vote. In that election, it came fourth, behind Venstre, the Social Democrats and the Danish People's Party.
