Connections (history project)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Connections is a history project, aiming to look at the hidden history of Asian, Black and Jewish relations and the comparative experiences of Britain's various ethnic communities. It was initiated in 1998 by the Jewish Council for Racial Equality (JCORE), the Asian-Black-Jewish Forum and the Parkes Institute for the Study of Jewish/non-Jewish Relations at Southampton University. The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The project consists of a website as well as a twenty-four-panel exhibition for young people, supporting printed material and a CD-ROM. The exhibition is available to hire free of charge for schools, libraries and community centres.
The agenda of the project, to encourage understanding of minnority groups and the relations between them, may be seen as left-wing, but the group has no formal political associations.
