There are four Catholic congregations which trace themselves to the foundation of the Venerable Fr. Basil Anthony Marie Moreau, CSC in 1837 in Le Mans, France.
- Congregation of Holy Cross (C.S.C.), the priests and brothers of Holy Cross.
The sisters of the original congregation were broken off and made independent by Rome in 18--. Subsequently, the Holy Cross sisters became three independent communities of sisters, namely:
- The Marianites of Holy Cross (M.S.C.) (Le Mans, France)
- The Sisters of the Holy Cross (C.S.C.), (Notre Dame, Indiana)
- The Sisters of Holy Cross (C.S.C.), (Montreal, Canada)
