It is common for manuals of style, grade school English teachers, and other such proponents of prescriptive grammar to caution against the use of run-on sentences, defined as a compound sentence with "too many" independent clauses.

Is this meant to be an example? Yeah, technically those are dependent clauses, but really, this is the kind of thing that ends up as a joke in email "signatures". Jobarts^-Talk 04:27, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

By whom? The definition at Wiktionary, and the two definitions Google found define it as a sentence with independent clauses without a conjunction between them. Jobarts^-Talk 05:20, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
