Scope?

[edit] Scope

What is the scope of this article and what disciplines would use the term "community studies"? A quick search revealed to me that it is sometimes used along with the term "social innovation" and in community development literature. • CQ 00:59, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Complete rewrite

This article is too important to leave in an incomplete state. It needs to be thoroughly covered, cited, sourced, and scoped into the larger general topic of Community, with community development, community psychology and other topics tied in logically. It needs to become an academic reference. This is, of course my opinion and quite subjective. I don't think this is an unreasonable request. I am willing to do a portion of the work myself, but I don't expect to do it alone. I am not an academic. CQ 18:36, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Sunray for the copy-editing. I took the "rewrite" tag off and replaced it with the "expert" tag. I think the "Curricula" section is appropriate but I'm not sure if "Epistemology" should be "Background" or some other term. I also added the "Schools with..." section and put in a few. It looks like to me that Victor Turner had quite a bit to say about community from the standpoint of ritual and liminality. Also Ferdinand Tönnies as far as differntiating between "community" and "society" in his seminal work, Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft. But, alas, I am but a novice on this topic. Please help, if you can and are so inclined. CQ 18:56, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
