Computing Research Association
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Computing Research Association (CRA) is an association of more than 200 North American academic departments of computer science, computer engineering, and related fields; laboratories and centers in industry, government, and academia engaging in basic computing research; and affiliated professional societies. CRA's mission is to strengthen research and advanced education in the computing fields, expand opportunities for women and minorities, and improve public and policymaker understanding of the importance of computing and computing research in our society.
[edit] Activities
CRA runs a number of conferences and workshops supporting the computing research community. The biennial Snowbird Conference brings together the chairs of Ph.D.-granting departments of computer science and computer engineering, as well as leaders from U.S. industrial and government computing research laboratories. The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference highlights achievements of women in computing. The Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference provides a supportive networking environment for under-represented groups across the broad range of computing and information technology, from science to business to the arts to infrastructure. A series of Grand Research Challenges conferences explore emerging "grand challenges" in computer science and engineering.
