Complexe Desjardins
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Complexe Desjardins is an office and hotel complex and shopping mall located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Opened as part of a broad scheme to develop the eastern end of downtown, it is located in the quadrilateral formed by Saint Catherine, Saint Urban, and Jeanne Mance streets, and René Lévesque Boulevard ( ).
Its innovative architectural design consists of four towers housing offices of the Mouvement Desjardins, Quebec Government offices and other companies, as well as the Hyatt Regency Montreal Hotel, linked by a vast plaza overlooked by surrounding upper levels with shops and services and covered with a very high ceiling and skylights. This design produces the effect of an outdoor market and square indoors.
The Complexe Desjardins is connected by the underground city to Place des Arts and the Place-des-Arts metro station to the north, and the Complexe Guy-Favreau, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, and Place-d'Armes metro station to the south.
