Completely Oblique is a compilation of the works of E.g Oblique Graph, an alias of Bryn Jones. The compilation collected the singles Extended Play, Piano Room, Triptych and Inhalt.

A promotional version of the 2XCD-R set came with a clear double jewel case tray, including a gatefold insert, information business card and a notes sheet. It was limited to an edition of 31 on "Pretentious" blue CDRs given to some very special supporters.

The standard 2XCD-R edition came in a clear double jewel case tray. It included a gatefold insert and an information business card. It was limited to an edition of 251 on black CDRs.

While the set sought to offer closure on the complete discography, it forgot a single song, titled "Extreme Faction Re-Mix", which was available on some versions of Extended Play.

In 2006 the set was rereleased on vinyl, but it included the song "Extreme Faction Re-Mix". It was released in a numbered limited edition of 500 with a gatefold sleeve.

The 2XCD-R version was released on the record label The Label with catalogue number GAUZE 1CD. All music was written, played, recorded and mixed by Bryn Jones. The album artwork is by Bryn Jones and the design by Pretentious.

The 2X12" vinyl version was released by record label Vinyl On Demand with catalogue number VOD 31.

Completely Oblique

The material contained within this set are from the period pre-dating the cult legend that is Muslimgauze. This was an era that Bryn did not like to talk about but my feeling has always been that he never gave himself enough credit for his past works. This tendency was not directed solely at these works but all of his older works. He was so involved in his ever evolving work that once a piece was finished he was on to new and what he always considered better material.

When I broached the subject of possible re-issues of past material he was not overly eager. There was always so much still to be released that he felt it would be waste to worry about what had gone before.

I could never get Bryn to believe just how important his music was and how many people were really interested in what he was doing. It is one of those sad facts that since his death there has been so much more interest shown in his work. What a shame that we live in a society that doesn't realize what they have until it is gone. A failing of the human species, it seems.

In an attempt to make these rather rare recordings available to more listeners I'm pleased to present this release. As Bryn is no longer here to provide us with his endless stream of genius, I hope he'd understand my digression.

You're missed everday, Bryn. The Edge May 22, 2002

Complete Oblique

In 2002, The Label re-issued the majority of these tracks in a two CDR set titled "Completely Oblique". This compilation was missing one track that I was unable to track down in time for the release. Vinyl On Demand now makes available the complete set of officially released E.g Oblique Graph tracks in this new double LP set titled fittingly "Complete Oblique".

The tracks have been re-ordered to maintain the maximum sound quality of the release but I hope that does not detract from the intentions here.

I am always very pleased to see labels take an interest in what Bryn did and will always support their endeavours to make the material available in all the various formats. It’s also a pleasant surprise to find people like Frank, at Vinyl On Demand, that continue to release interesting material on the vinyl format. I really wish there were more doing so; it is a media that is close to my heart. An age thing undoubtedly.

It has been over seven years since Bryn left us to fend for ourselves but there is still very few days that pass I don’t send a thought his way. He is and always will be missed.

(The following comments are taken from the "Completely Oblique" notes and are included here because I still believe very strongly in them.)
