Its MLA is Hon. Stan Hagen, a former manager in the construction industry. He was first elected in 1986 as a Social Credit MLA to represent the riding of Comox and was re-elected in 2001 in the riding of Comox Valley representing the British Columbia Liberal Party. Mr. Hagen was appointed Minister of Children and Family Development on September 20, 2004. He has previously served as Minister of Human Resources, Minister of Sustainable Resource Management, Minister of Advanced Education, Job Training, Science and Technology, Minister of Regional and Economic Development, Minister of Education, and as Minister of State for the Vancouver Island/Coast Region.
