Communic is a Progressive/Power Metal band from Kristiansand, Norway. The band was founded in 2003 and has recorded 2 albums, Conspiracy in Mind in 2005 and Waves of Visual Decay in 2006 and both have received very good reviews from magazines and critics.[citation needed]

[edit] Beginning (2003-04)
Communic were founded in March 2003 as a side project for bandmates at Scariot, guitarist Oddleif Stensland and drummer Tor Atle Andersen. They were soon after joined by bassist Erik Mortensen, who had also been a bandmate of Stensland in a band called Ingermanland. In January 2004, the band recorded its first three demo tracks ay Dub Studios in Norway and although only 100 copies of the Conspiracy in Mind demo (named after one of the songs in it) were printed, it was selected as Demo of the Month by the magazine Rock Hard in April.[citation needed] Before this, in March they signed with the management Danish company Intromental Management. At this point, Stensland leaves his band Scariot to concentrate full-time on Communic.
[edit] Conspiracy in Mind (2004-05)
In July, Communic signed with the German label Nuclear Blast and in September began recording their debut album, Conspiracy in Mind in Denmark at the studios of the producer of the album, Jacob Hansen. The recording was done with Danish keyboardist Peter Jensen (ex-Sinphonia). It was released on 21 February 2005 and received good reviews, being voted as "Album of the Month" in Rock Hard magazine and Heavy Oder Was, causing Rock Hard to select Communic as Newcomer of the Year.[citation needed] Following its release, Communic toured Europe with Ensiferum and Graveworm, including an appearance at the Gelsenkirchener Rock Hard Festival. Jensen joined the band on the tour, but was not made a permanent member as he did not live in Norway.
[edit] Waves of Visual Decay (2006-current)
In early 2006, the band flew once again to Denmark to record the follow-up to Conspiracy in Mind in the Jacob Hansen studios. This time, Norwegian Endre Kirkesola was brought in to record the keyboard parts in the album. Unlike Jensen, Kirkesola did not tour with the band to promote the album. Waves of Visual Decay, its name, was released in May 2006 and (as his predecessor) also received good critics being selected as Album of the Month (or Week, or Issue, depending on the Magazine) in Swiss magazine MetalWorld,[citation needed] Greek Rock Hard,[citation needed] Portuguese Metalmorfose,[citation needed] Norwegian Scream[citation needed] and Germans Rock Hard,[citation needed] Laut.de,[citation needed] Guitar Magazine,[citation needed] Metal Hammer,[citation needed] Metal Heart[citation needed] and Heavy.[citation needed]
