Communal Music Project
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Communal Music Project was created by Dan Mesa in order for a community of musicians to get together and enhance each others music using the ease of the internet. An individual can either download a pre-recorded track and at their own $0.02 or record their own song and upload it to the database for others to add to. This will enable people from all over the world to play together, thus creating styles never before conceived.
CMP's goal is to make this as easy to do as possible, so even beginners (technically & musically) can participate.
Current selections include music from Dan Mesa, Matt Parillo, and Lindsay Casale.
[edit] Software
If your computer boots up and you have a sound card, you're probably able to record directly to your computer either by directly connecting to your sound card, or a microphone. The average computer microphone, when placed correctly, can do a fairly decent job at recording, although this is not the preferred method for CMP.
Recommended recording software includes, but is not limited to the following:
Adobe Audition - This is not free software, but is extremely powerful and fairly easy to use. Overwhelming at first, but easy eventually.
Audacity - This is an extremely free and extremely powerful audio recorder/editor comparable to Adobe Audition.
