Commodore Hotel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Commodore Hotel is one of the principal hotels in the Torfaen town of Cwmbran in Wales. It advertises itself as a "friendly, modern hotel".
[edit] Facilities
Pilliner's Lounge Bar The hotel's lounge bar offers a meeting place for guests and locals alike. The bar offers a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks as well as a range of cold snacks. It is decorated in the style of a London public house. It offers a very wide range of real ales, wines and spirits.
Mary O'Brien's Irish Bar The Irish bar is located on the ground floor of the hotel and is available for hire seven days a week. As its name suggests, it is themed around the idea of the traditional Irish bar.
Willows Restaurant Willows is the hotel's premier restaurant and is open to both guests and day visitors. It is a very well appointed and comfortable restaurant that has its own bar and outside seating terrace - making it ideal for weddings, christenings, etc.
The Mahogany Function Suite This newly refurbished room is the ideal venue for any conference. It provides a comfortable and versatile space for up to 250 in theatre style or more form seating arrangements. The Suite is air conditioned, has comprehensive, modern digital audio-visual systems including computer projection and radio microphones, plus OHP. It opens out onto an acre of lawns, ponds and woodlands.
Grounds & Gardens The hotel is set within the picturesque Cwmbran suburb of Llanyrafon. It has its own beautiful gardens and seating areas that make for a fabulous setting in the warmer weathers. The hotel also has ample car parking facilities on site.
[edit] Accommodation
Each of the hotel's sixty bedrooms has a private bathroom, colour TV and video, hospitality tray, as well as our 24 hour room service. Passenger lift, foreign exchange, doctor on call, direct dial telephone.
[edit] Criticisms
Many people feel that the hotel is overpriced for the service that it offers. Although set in landscaped gardens, the hotel is an unsightly 1960s building and much of the interior decor is both dated and tired.
