Commercial Breakdown
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Commercial Breakdown is a BBC/Celador light entertainment television programme which shows humorous television advertisements from around the world. It was started in the 1980s by Jasper Carrott (as Carrott's Commercial Breakdown) as a way to show some of his humour. British adverts were initially not allowed because of the BBC's Royal Charter (advertising is completely forbidden on the BBC), however nowadays, provided the adverts are out-of-date, i.e. they are not currently being broadcasted, they are allowed. Carrott later passed the format to other comedians such as Rory McGrath, Jo Brand, Ruby Wax, Jim Davidson and recently Jon Culshaw.
