[edit] History
Commentary is a monthly magazine published by the American Jewish Committee since 1945 that bills itself as "America's premier monthly magazine of opinion." It covers politics, international affairs, societal issues, and Judaism. Initially, its articles and stories were from a secular American Jewish perspective. Presently, it is considered to be one of the primary intellectual homes of neoconservatism.[1][2]
Its founder and original editor was Elliot E. Cohen. Cohen was succeeded after his death in 1959 by Norman Podhoretz, who served as editor-in-chief until 1995 and currently serves as the magazine's editor-at-large.
