[edit] Song Walkthrough
"Come On" is the last track from The Verve's final album Urban Hymns. This song would not sound out of place on one of The Verve's more experimental, psychedelic albums, such as A Storm in Heaven. The song starts off with stereo bouncing from left to right, and a cool bass riff. There are two short verses and choruses, all based on A and B major- no hint of the onslaught of sound about to come up. Following this, all hell breaks loose, with a jam session starting, based on the verse chord sequence, but with lots more distortion giving a far more nastier feel. Ashcroft starts screaming the songs title repeatedly over the screeching guitars, before shouting "There's only one life, Let it Go" at the top of his voice. Soon thereafter, he starts to shout "This is a big! Fuck you!" repeatedly. It's been said that the music sounds very much drug-related and as if the band are sliding into hell. Such is the power of the music. The music stops suddenly and quietly ends at about 6 minutes. 7 minutes of silence follow until the hidden track Deep Freeze starts and lasts 2 minutes, taking the songs length to over 15 minutes.
