Combs, Suffolk

Combs is a hamlet in the English county of Suffolk. It is located directly to the south of Stowmarket, with a half-mile of glacial valley known locally as the 'Slough' separating the two.

It has a population of approximately 350 people. Because of its small size, there are not many areas of great historical interest, however, there are a number of local landmarks; model farm, a now-converted dairy built in the 1800's that originally supplied the dairy products to all of what is now the mid-Suffolk area. The Combs Tannery, this building is now collection of lets for businesses in the local area, including a card company and a metal workshop, the goods from this tannery are shipped all over the UK.Combs Post Office is now a private dwelling but the original postbox is still there,the building is Grade2 listed due to its original Victorian shopfront.

The local pub is the successful Gardeners Arms which is frequented by the areas most famous resident Delia Smith. Possibly Combs' most famous resident to date was John Peel, who died in 2005.
