Combat Systems Officer (US Air Force)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Combat Systems Officer is the new term for US Air Force navigators who attend Combat Systems Officer training at Randolph AFB, TX. It basically merges the old navigator (NAV) track, the weapon systems officer (WSO) track with the old electronic warfare officer (EWO) track to produce an aviator who is more versatile. Currently, the 562nd Flying Training Squadron at Randolph teaches the inflight navigation portion with the T-43A trainer while the 563rd Flying Training Squadron teaches the electronic warfare portion.
