Comayagua, Comayagua

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Comayagua is the capital of the Honduran department of Comayagua. It has no international airport, but the sound of planes and helicopters can often be heard travelling to and from the U.S. military base of Palmerola just outside of the city. Of interest in Comayagua are a museum of anthropology, and several beautiful, Spanish colonial cathedrals, including the largest cathedral in Central America which has one of the oldest clocks in all of America. Comayagua is generally very hot year-round, and receives very little rainfall. During the rainy season, storms generally come and pass very quickly in the late evenings and into the night.
