[edit] Purpose
There are a number of articles and lists about communities and municipalities in Wisconsin as a whole that cut across city, village or town boundaries. In Wisconsin, oftentimes small cities (like Cuba City have more in common with villages than they do with the other, larger cities they are grouped with. There are about seven categories in Category:Wisconsin having to do communities of one type or another; it makes it easier for someone navigating through articles about Wisconsin communities to have them all grouped together rather than all lumped in the Wisconsin category.
Also, lists such as List of municipalities in Wisconsin by population, List of ZIP Codes in Wisconsin and Wisconsin locations by per capita income cut across types of municipalities; it makes more sense to put them in Category:Communities in Wisconsin rather than list them separately in every single type of community represented in the list. --BaronLarf 17:34, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
