Columbia Place Mall is a super-regional shopping mall in Columbia, South Carolina, the city's second-oldest mall. At 1.1 million square feet, it is South Carolina's second largest mall (Haywood Mall in Greenville is South Carolina's largest). The mall features three anchor stores: Dillard's, Macy's, and Sears, as well as a food court, an Old Navy and approximately 100 stores.
[edit] History
The mall opened in August of 1977. At opening date the anchors were Belk Leggett, JCPenney, Rich's and Sears. Belk closed and was replaced with Dillard's in 1996. JCPenney closed and is now vacant. An 8 unit food court was added in October 1997. Renovations came in 2001 when CBL & Associates Properties purchased the mall from the Richard E. Jacobs Group. In 2005, Rich's was renamed Macy's.
