From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Columbia Island is an island located in the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. It is accessible from downtown Washington and Arlington National Cemetery via the Arlington Memorial Bridge and from Northern Virginia via the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Columbia Island is home to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove on the Potomac and the Navy-Marine Memorial. The island is also home to a memorial park dedicated to Lady Bird Johnson and a small marina. A footpath runs along the side of the island facing the District, leading to Theodore Roosevelt Island in one direction and National Airport on the other. The Pentagon is visible from the western side of the island near the marina at the southern tip.
