Columbia Center Mall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Columbia Center Mall is a shopping mall located in northwestern Kennewick, Washington, owned by Simon Property Group. It is by far the largest mall in southeastern Washington, and regularly draws visitors from as far away as Hermiston, Oregon.
The mall, which opened in October of 1968, is accessible off of Columbia Center Boulevard, the most-traveled north-south street in all of Kennewick (besides perhaps Highway 395). Two major east-west streets, Gage Boulevard and Canal Drive, also provide easy access.
The mall is well-known as a popular location (and the only primary location) for teenagers in the Tri-Cities to gather. It boasts an eight screen movie theater, several large chain stores (such as Barnes and Noble, J.C. Penney, Macy's and nearby Toys 'R' Us), and serves as the centerpiece of Kennewick's uptown commercial district.
Columbia Center is currently in the process of adding more space. The first phase will include a Starbucks and will be completed before the holiday season. The addition will also include an outlet for Verizon Wireless. (Note: the current Starbucks Coffee will remain open during construction, but cannot be accessed from the outside).
