Colorpoint Shorthair
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Colorpoint Shorthair is the name the CFA (USA) uses to refer to cats of Siamese ancestry and type in colours other than Seal, Chocolate, Blue, or Lilac Point (the "traditional" colours). This name is also given to cats of Siamese ancestry and colouration with colours other than the traditional colours in their eight generation pedigree. In Registries of other countries, however, "Colourpoint" is the name given to cats of Persian type and Himalayan (pointed) colouring.
A Colorpoint Shorthair cat may also be any of the four traditional Siamese colours, however, they may only be shown in the Red Point (in the Persian Family, this colour is called flame point), Cream Point, any of the above colours in Tabby Point (also called lynx point), and any of the above combinations in tortoiseshell Point.
In all registries except CFA (USA), the Colorpoint Shorthair is not considered a separate breed but rather as simply different colours of Siamese, and all are shown as Siamese.
