Colonel Vogel

Colonel Vogel is a character that was portrayed by Michael Byrne in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and is a high-ranking officer in the SS. Ruthless and imposing, Vogel worked with Walter Donovan to find the Holy Grail. Most of the time he tried to find Indiana Jones and his father and kill them under orders from Adolf Hitler. The evil colonel suffered a humiliating situation when after he found Jones Sr. on a zeppelin about to takeoff, he was thrown out the window by Indy into a pile of suitcases.

Afterwards, Vogel led the joint Nazi-Arabian journey towards the Canyon of the Crescent Moon where the Grail resides. He captures Jones Sr. and holds him in a World War I-era tank with Marcus Brody. He faces Indy on the tank and uses rather unfair tactics on the archaeologist. Indy succeeds in liberating both his father and Brody and proceeds to pummel Vogel when they both see that the tank is about to drive off a cliff. Indy gets off in the nick of time but Vogel goes down with the tank, perishing in the explosion.
