Colm Parkinson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Colm Parkinson is a gaelic football player from County Laois in Ireland.

He plays his club football for Portlaoise and is also a member of the Laois senior team.

In 1996, Colm was part of the Laois team which won the county's first ever All-Ireland Minor Football Championship.

Colm’s exuberant footballing style and unconventional demeanour marked him apart from his peers and, after graduating to the 1998 Under 21 Leinster winning side, he went on to play for Laois at senior level also winning a Compromise Rules cap for Ireland in 1998.

After picking up a Sigerson Cup medal in 1999 with IT Tralee, “Woolly” won Laois Senior Football Championship titles with Portlaoise in 1999, 2002 and 2004 (as captain) and also captained his club in the 2005 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship final. Due to captain his county in 2005 the ever unpredictable Parkinson instead opted to take a year out to travel and was badly missed as Laois went down to Dublin.
