The College of Southern Maryland (formerly Charles County Community College) is a public, regional community college with campuses in Charles County, St. Mary's County, and Calvert County.
The Charles County campus includes both the main campus of the school in LaPlata and the Waldorf Center in Waldorf. The St. Mary's County campus is located in Leonardtown and the Calvert County Campus is located in Prince Fredrick.

The College of Southern Maryland offers more than 120 programs of study including Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science Degree Programs. Additionally, many certificates and letters or recognition are offered, especially in areas of vocational training.
[edit] Intercollegiate Sports
The College of Southern Maryland currently has 5 intercollegiate men's teams and 5 intercollegiate women's teams that compete in the NCJAA Division III. The school mascot is the hawk, hence all of the athletic teams have "Hawks" on their jerseys. The men's teams include baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis. The women's team includes basketball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. The college also has a cheerleading team.
[edit] LaPlata Campus
In 1958 the Charles County Community College (later CSM) was established with evening classes at LaPlata High School. In 1968, construction began on a permanent 173-acre site on Mitchell Road. This, the original campus of CSM, houses a large indoor pool, a fine arts center with a 400-seat theater, high-tech computer laboratories, outdoor and indoor sports facilities, a bookstore, a fitness center, a cafeteria, a distance learning center, and a state-of-the-art conference center.
[edit] Leonardtown Campus
The Community College of St. Mary's County (later CSM) was established in 1978 at Great Mills High School. The campus was moved to its current location in 1997. The new location included two buildings, Building A and Building B; a third building, Building C, was completed in 2003. The campus boasts science labs - including advanced technology, electronics, chemistry, physics, biology, microbiology/anatomy, and physiology - as well as a Wellness Center which is available for student and community use, and an Auditorium/seminar room.
[edit] Prince Fredrick Campus
The Community College at Calvert County (later CSM) was established in 1980. In 2005 the campus was moved to its current location with its flagship building on Williams Road in Prince Fredrick. The building is a two-story, 56,000 square foot construction. It includes 15 classrooms and 6 computer labs, with specialized classrooms in art, physics, biology, chemistry, and nursing. The new building also has a 2,951 square foot library with print and on-line resources and an additional two learning labs providing 76 student computer workstations.
