Colin Bean

Colin Bean (b. 1925 in Wigan, Lancashire) is an English actor best known for his role as Private Sponge in the World War II sitcom Dad's Army. He has also had roles in Z Cars, The Liver Birds and Are You Being Served?, and appeared as the verger in the final episode of Hi-de-Hi! in 1988.
