Colegio de Biólogos del Perú

Colegio de Biólogos del Perú is a professional association in Peru that accepts as members only graduates in Biology that have opted to be licensed through a special inter-university procedure called Licenciatura. It was founded in 1972.
According to Peruvian law, in order to work as a professional biologist one must be registered and be a dues-paying active member of the Colegio de Biólogos del Perú. It is governed by a Dean who presides over a National Council elected every two years by general elections. The National Council is constituted by several Regional Councils. As of 2005 it had over 6,200 registered members nationwide.
Recently, Peruvian Congress passed Law 28847 that regulates the work of biologists [1] and requires them to be duly registered in the Colegio de Biólogos del Perú in order to work for government or in the private world.
The present National Dean is Isabel Martos. Tha past National Dean is Magdalena Pavlich.
