Colcannon (Old Irish cál ceannan, white head) is a traditional Irish and West Scots food made from mashed potatoes, kale, butter, salt, and pepper. It can contain other ingredients such as milk, cream, leeks, onions, chives or garlic. At one time it was a cheap, year-round staple food.

An old Irish Halloween tradition was to serve colcannon with prizes of small coins concealed in it.

It is similar to the British dish, Bubble and squeak. It is also similar to the Hungarian dish haluski, but with the addition of mashed potatoes.

The Dutch also have a dish that is similar called borebkole (farmer cabbage or kale) often served or cooked with a large sausage. A condiment of pickled pearl onions is common.
