Colborne, Ontario is a tiny village east of Cobourg in Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada; it is the easternmost point in area code 905.
Its most-known landmark is a large apple visible above the trees at Big Apple Drive and Highway 401 as part of a theme park. This landmark is amongst tens of other massed fruits like the Big Orange, Florida.
Apples are widely grown across this region around towns including Adolphustown, Picton and various other small villages along the road.
The Big Apple's food area includes various amounts of turnovers, pies, desserts, drinks and of course candied apples. Also in the attraction lay many glass windows to the kitchens that produce the pies and the very foods served in the food court that allow you to see the professionals go from an apple to the legacied apple pies.
Incredibly the big apple attracts about 500,000 tourists, visitors, and residents each year. It is recognized as one of the great family attractions of Colborne and has a remarkable petting zoo, creek, various animals and mini golfing. The Big Apple is a World's Largest Apple and Canada's largest.
Originally named Keeler's Tavern, Colborne was named after Sir John Colborne, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, by Joseph Abbott Keeler in 1829.
